This martial arts program emphasizes the art form, training discipline and physical and mental development of traditional Japanese karate training. Less concentration is placed on the aggressive aspects of karate and more importance is placed on defensive techniques and conditioning. The classes are taught by black belt instructors and are conducted in an atmosphere where safety is emphasized.

All classes include: · A formal opening and closing in the traditional Japanese manner · Warm-ups that include a balance of calisthenics and stretching · Blocking, punching and kicking drills
Plus instruction and coaching in the following: · Kata (classical forms which are stylized fighting sequences against imaginary opponents) · Ippon Kumite (a formal one-move sparring exercise) · Jiyu Kumite (free-style contest sparring) · Practical self-defense techniques
